bring it! dance ‘exploratories’

local creative dance party collaboration

Bring It was a unique dance party and explorative movement space that was born as a collaboration with my friend Paul Montgomery in Boulder, Colorado in 2016. Paul is an amazingly creative DJ known as Kinnickinnick, and Bring It! happened every month for multiple years at a private residence with high quality speakers and plenty of space to fully have it brung. The ethos was: we’re open to all humans who love to go deep brang when encountering creative beats, an open floor, a texture of awe, and humans moving how they must.

To say a bit more… Bring It was designed as a come-as-you-are space — where people showed up on the dance floor and brought whatever/wherever they were at the time. It was simply about dancing and music and the space in between. Kinnickinnick blended contemporary electronic dance music out of the UK, Africa, Latin America and beyond, loving the fusion of organic traditional music with the rich textural pallets and body provided by electronic music. Attendees danced completely on their own, copying their neighbors, saying yes, saying no, doing their thing. Quiet and slow, deep and wide, or full and big - it was always uniquely bringed each month.
