AUTHENTIC MOVEMENT
PRIVATE SESSIONS & WORKSHOPS
MOVEMENT-BASED MEDITATION and INQUIRY
Influenced by Jung’s “active imagination” and indigenous traditions, Authentic Movement has been used for over six decades in artistic/creative, spiritual, psychotherapeutic, and social contexts. The form is simple and profound, involving self-directed, spontaneous movement in the receptive presence of an experienced witness. It is a form of embodied dreaming in which the personal and collective unconscious can be explored, digested, delighted in, and integrated back into waking life.
Authentic Movement is a very useful practice for developing secure attachment and relational healing, whether practiced in a one-on-one, couples work, or group context. It helps practitioners access the cellular knowing that resonates beneath the constrictions of the personality, restoring a sense of authority to one’s own bodily-knowing. Interpersonal skills, empathy, connected autonomy, and relational intuition are natural developments that result from ongoing practice.
I have both practiced and professionally facilitated Authentic Movement private sessions and workshops internationally for almost two decades. It has been the central mindfulness and embodiment practice throughout my life and one of the most precious containers for my own spiritual maturation. I currently offer sessions for individuals and couples, as well as group workshops and consultations for newly forming peer groups, in Boulder Colorado and abroad. I am a Registered Psychotherapist in the State of Colorado, and a graduate of the 2-year Comprehensive Hakomi Training in Experiential Psychotherapy, and so I bring these therapeutic skills into my private and group facilitation as well.
